Jeff oversees the engineering department for CLD Engineering and has extensive knowledge of the state and local regulatory agencies. He has more than two decades of civil engineering experience in the Carolinas, including infrastructure design and permitting for commercial, municipal and residential projects. Jeff received a BS from Clemson University in Civil Engineering and holds Professional Engineering licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Previously Jeff served 9 years on the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority, including 2 years as Chairman. In July 2018, he was appointed by the County Commissioners to the Hanover County Planning Board and currently serves as Chairman.

Jay holds two engineering degrees from North Carolina State University. He is the Director of Engineering for in the company and handles the engineering and permitting on multiple projects. Jay oversees the engineering staff and furthers their training and education with the ultimate goal of helping them attain professional licensure. He specializes in the design and modeling of water systems, stormwater management devices, and sanitary sewer pump stations. Jay is also part of the project management team where he is the point of contact for projects in the design process.

Nathan joined the CLD team in 2016 after receiving his Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Maryland. Nathan works closely with other engineers and landscape architects at CLD to provide support through all phases of site development from initial design concepts to construction documents and details. As a landscape designer Nathan primarily focuses on developing zoning compliant landscape plans, tree protection/removal permits, as well as illustrative sketches and plans.

Frank serves as a client contact and provides design oversight for land planning and site development projects. Prior to founding CLD, he was president of Sungate Design Group, PA, an engineering and landscape architecture firm. He has worked with the City of Raleigh Planning Department, Wake County Parks Department, and served as vice president of Voorhees Land Development. His varied experience provides the design team with the integration of planning, engineering and landscape architecture needed to ensure successful projects. Frank received a BS Degree from North Carolina State University in 1973 and has practiced Landscape Architecture for more than 30 years. In August of 2018, he was elected as Town Commissioner for the Town of Topsail Beach, NC.

Tracie serves as the client liaison for all accounting operations for the company. She manages the financial functions related to the billing, project tracking, and organization of the company’s financial operation. She handles a variety of administrative roles within the company’s operations working directly with the CLD team. As the client contact for billing, she works with the customer to ensure they have the best experience possible. Tracie received her BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Len joined CLD Engineering in 2019 as lead inspector whose primary responsibilities include but are not limited to submittal reviews and site inspections for the company. Len brings an extensive background in commercial construction since 1979 both supervising and managing a wide range of project types and varied construction methods.

Mike joined CLD Engineering in 2024 as a Project Manager, bringing over a decade of experience in civil engineering design, permitting, and project delivery. He holds a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Maryland and is a licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Florida, and Texas. He oversees projects from planning and design through permitting and construction across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. His work in multiple jurisdictions helps him navigate complex regulatory environments and development challenges. During his engineering career, Mike served as a United States Marine (Combat Engineer), where he built a foundation of leadership, discipline, and problem-solving skills that continue to guide his work today.Mike is also an avid RV and boat owner and enjoys traveling the country’s landscapes and coastlines, staying connected with emerging trends in development and infrastructure across the United States.

Suyong Joung joined the CLD team in October 2018 and currently serves as a Project Engineer. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Inha University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
At CLD, Suyong leads the design and coordination of land development projects, including both residential subdivisions and commercial developments. His responsibilities encompass the full scope of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, grading, water and sewer utilities, and pump station design. He manages project schedules, oversees plan production, and prepares permit applications, engineering reports, and design calculations for approval by local jurisdictions and agencies.
Suyong brings extensive experience in stormwater modeling and drainage design, ensuring that each project meets regulatory requirements and achieves practical, sustainable outcomes. His attention to detail and proactive project management have been instrumental in the successful completion of numerous developments throughout North and South Carolina.

As a landscape architect, Sarah coordinates with Frank Braxton, CLD’s RLA, along with other engineers and planners to provide site design alternatives that address the aesthetics, practicality and safety of a proposed project. She works in areas such as planting design, grading and drainage, site layout and circulation, materials selection, and lighting to provide design solutions that best satisfy project requirements, abide by local code, and reflect the client’s taste. She received a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from NC State University’s College of Design and also obtained a minor in Horticulture.

Renee joined CLD in 2005. Her background includes land survey, civil design and architectural design. She provides support for both the engineers and landscape architects with an emphasis on planning, permitting, and construction document preparation.

Lauren joined the CLD team in 2025 as a project engineer. Since earning her bachelor's degree in civil engineering from NC State University in 2023, she has worked in site design with experience spanning commercial, residential, and federal projects. Having successfully passed the professional engineering exam, Lauren plans to apply for licensure in the spring of 2027. She is passionate about contributing to thoughtful development from project kickoffs through construction administration.

Mounir Hadam joined the CLD team as a Civil Engineer in June of 2023. He graduated from Penn State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Mounir has a strong background in the development of stormwater management design, site layout and grading, utility design, and erosion and sediment control design.

Nate joined CLD Engineering in 2025 as a Landscape Designer, bringing three years of experience in the Coastal North Carolina market. He earned a degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture from Brigham Young University–Idaho and is currently pursuing licensure as a Landscape Architect. At CLD, Nate focuses on creating landscape plans that blend environmental responsibility with modern aesthetics. His background in horticulture and design enables him to create outdoor spaces that enhance communities and enrich the daily experience. Before joining CLD, Nate worked in the residential design–build industry as a landscape designer, salesman, and project manager, giving him a practical understanding of how ideas transition from concept to completion. Outside of work, Nate enjoys exploring topics like science and humanities, cultivating his artistic skills, gardening, traveling, and spending time on or near the water.
 
	  Bea Froyalde, Civil Engineer
Bea Froyalde joined the CLD team as a Civil Engineer in January of 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Bea contributes to the team as a skilled civil designer, recognized for her keen eye for detail and strong production capabilities.
